Ravenswood Park

Yesterday we went to Ravenswood Park. There were some vernal ponds. Vernal ponds are ponds that are there in the Spring but dry up by Summer. Vernal ponds are good for amphibians to lay eggs in because they don't have fish predators.

The cloudy thing in the water is spotted salamander eggs.




This is a bull frog on a rock in a vernal pond.


The plants on this rock are lichen. This kind of lichen looks like camouflage.

Hiking in New England is different from hiking in Florida because there are rock, hills, and different kinds of plants.
